Since then, Helen has assisted numerous organizations in creating mentor-rich environments through her expertise in recruiting and training mentors, mentees and support staff. The workshops she facilitates are designed to give participants the skills, support and enthusiasm to make the mentoring process a success.

Helen is the author of two workbooks on mentoring, “How to Find the Business Mentor who is Right for You: A Guide for the African-American Entrepreneur” and “How to Find the Business Mentor who is Right for You: A Guide for the Business Owner.”

A firm believer in giving back to the community, Helen is active in several Northeast Ohio organizations including the YMCA of Greater Cleveland, Dress for Success and the Professional Women’s Group. She was honored in 2006 with the YMCA Black Achiever/Hispanic Award, which recognizes local leaders serving as role models and providing academic and career guidance for today’s youth.

Helen’s public relations experience includes serving as chairperson for the Shoes & Clothes for Kids annual luncheon, co-chair of the Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce education committee and the American Heart Association African-American Women’s Wellness Walk. She also belongs to eWomen Network, National Black MBA Association, Peer Resources Network, and the Independent Practitioners Group (IPG).

A champion of all things “mentoring,” Helen Copeland is dedicated to helping individuals and organizations experience the countless positive benefits mentoring has to offer. This acclaimed “Maven of Mentoring” is president of Copeland Communications Group, a Cleveland-based training, coaching and mentoring firm that also specializes in public relations.

With a degree in Public Relations from Ursuline College, Helen brings more than 20 years experience in the field of communication and community relations to her role as mentoring and public relations specialist. She began her career as the mentoring coordinator for The Cleveland Clinic Foundation’s John Hay High School Educational Partnership and served as a mentor in the Career Mentoring Network at Ursuline College.
